In-school sessions for home-educated pupils

Newbury Study Hall offers weekly tuition for home-educated pupils – small, in-person tutorials to support the programmes families are running at home.

How it works

Arrangements fit into any home education timetable during normal school hours. Pupils may also attend the standard after-school and Saturday morning programmes alongside school-attending children, or come in for holiday intensives.

One subject or several. One day a week or more. Pupils may join at the start of any half term, or at any other point where space is available.

Who it suits

  • Families home-educating through the GCSE years who want regular external structure in one or more subjects
  • Families home-educating through the A-level years who want sustained subject-specialist input — particularly in Maths, Further Maths and the sciences, where home tuition is harder to provide
  • Pupils who have come out of mainstream school mid-secondary and want a small, structured, in-person setting to anchor their week
  • Pupils preparing to sit GCSEs or A-levels as independent candidates

Subjects

GCSE & A-level exams

Home-educated pupils sit GCSEs and A levels as independent candidates at local examination centres. Tuition at Newbury Study Hall can be aligned to a specific exam board, or provide more general subject support. The school can advise on exam-centre choice, deadlines and entry but does not enter pupils itself.

Fees

All tuition is calculated at £40 per hour. A 10-week term of 5 hours per week is £2,000.
