GCSE Biology

The Biology GCSE exam rewards students who have properly learnt the content – the terminology, the processes, the precise definitions. The gap between a grade 5 and 8 is almost always a gap in knowledge rather than in ability.

Newbury Study Hall offers small-group GCSE biology tuition in Newbury for students in Years 10 and 11, with sessions available after school, on Saturday mornings and during holiday revision weeks.

  • A-level biology is also available
  • Ambitious Year 9 students may also attend

How sessions work

Sessions focus heavily on subject content and terminology – the material students are actually examined on – rather than on exam technique in isolation. Tutors question students closely, which surfaces gaps in knowledge that students often don’t know they have until they are asked to explain something precisely.

Where a student’s school has not yet covered a topic, sessions can introduce it in advance, so that when it does appear in class it arrives as familiar ground.

  • Small groups of 3-4 (max 8)
  • All exam boards covered
  • Subject content & exam practice
  • Preparation tasks between sessions

Who it is for

Sessions suit students who want to improve on their current predicted grade, students aiming for the top grades, and students in Year 9 who want to get ahead before GCSEs begin.

Open to students from all local schools, state and private.
