Holiday Revision

EasterHalf termsAugust

For some, concentrated work in the school holidays produces results that weekly term-time sessions might not. Five consecutive days on a single subject — three hours per day, fifteen hours in total — lets a pupil close real ground and consolidate it through immediate, repeated practice.

All programmes employ the OISE tutorial method to ensure students feel understood and challenged as individuals.

Newbury Study Hall runs intensive programmes in each main holiday of the year.

Common structure

  • Monday to Friday
  • Three hours per subject per day
  • Fifteen hours per subject per week
  • Small groups of 3–4 (max 8)
  • £600 per subject per week (£40 per hour)
  • All exam boards covered

Combinations

Pupils may attend two subjects across the same week — for example Maths in the mornings and a science in the afternoons. Pupils attending during Easter may book both weeks: one for content review, one for exam practice, for example.

At Newbury Study Hall:

  • The focus is on knowledge and ability rather than just exam technique. Strong subject knowledge is the main predictor of exam success and is complemented by exam skills.
  • Students are actively engaged and practising throughout, not sitting passively as they might in a lecture, when re-reading a study guide or watching a revision video.
  • Students address gaps in understanding, learn ahead into new topics and complete timed exam practice under tutorial guidance.
